TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Governor Ron DeSantis announced nearly $188 million will be going to the expansion of rural healthcare across the state.
The money will be used to expand access to care, support rural hospitals and clinics and help grow the rural health care work force.
According a Tuesday press release, the funding will support more than 80 awards serving communities across 31 rural counties.
Of those funds, $81 million will be going to the northwest region of the state.
Florida State University is getting over $5 million for preventative care and care at home. The university is also getting around $1.2 million that will go toward health and lifestyle.
Florida A&M University is also receiving nearly $5 million for preventative care and care at home, $1.3 million for rural and satellite clinics, funding for workforce development and more.
The Madison County Hospital Health System and the Bond Community Health Center are also among those receiving funding.
